Mindfulness, or the practice or purposely focusing your attention on the present moment and accepting it without judgement, is a key element to overall wellness. Evidence finds that mindfulness techniques help relieve stress, regulate emotions, and improve well-being.

Mindfulness Techniques

Some people practice mindfulness through meditation, but we can cultivate mindfulness by simply focusing our attention on everyday activities. It helps to give each task our full attention, whether it’s eating lunch, petting the dog, or sitting quietly.

We should focus on our breathing, and become aware of sights, sounds, smells, and other sensations. If our mind wanders, we can gently bring our attention back to our breathing.

The more we practice mindfulness, the more of an effect it will have. Even 10 minutes a day can help us appreciate every moment and support overall health.
