But overindulging can leave you feeling bloated, disappointed in yourself and even left with heartburn. The following are some healthy dessert ideas for the holidays that you can alternate with indulgent menu items. These healthy desserts are sweet, satisfying and light in sugar.
Dark Chocolate Pistachio Cranberry Bark (Very festive colors)
Ingredients:
· 12 oz dark chocolate (70% or higher)
· ½ cup chopped pistachios
· ½ cup dried cranberries
· 1 tsp orange zest
Instructions
· Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
· Melt chocolate slowly as to not bubble
· Spread it onto the lined baking sheet
· Sprinkle pistachios, cranberries and zest evenly
· Chill until firm, then break into pieces
Pumpkin Pie Yogurt Parfaits (Pumpkin vibe without the pie crust)
Ingredients:
· 2 cups plain Greek yogurt
· 1 ½ cups canned pumpkin puree
· 2 tbs maple syrup
· 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
· 1 cup unsweetened granola
Instructions:
· Mix pumpkin puree, maple syrup and spice in a bowl
· Layer yogurt, then pumpkin mixture and top with granola in 6 small glasses
· Chill until serving
No Bake Coconut Snowballs (Quick snowy bite size treats)
Ingredients:
· 1 ½ cups unsweetened shredded coconut (plus extra for rolling)
· ¾ cup almond flour
· 3 tbs coconut oil, melted
· 3 tbs honey
· 1 tsp vanilla extract
· Pinch of salt
Instructions:
· Mix all ingredients until dough forms
· Roll into 1-inch balls, then roll in extra coconut. You should have around 18 balls
· Chill for 30 minutes before serving
