Get a Great Energy Boost with MCTs

MCTs (medium chain triglycerides) are all the rage in the KETO world. They support energy levels and are recognized as “fast fuel” because they’re readily converted into energy. And since they’re converted so quickly, they aren’t stored as fat. Many KETO followers add MCTs to their coffee, but they can also be added to yogurt or a smoothie, or taken directly from a spoon.

Medium Chain Triglycerides for a Healthy Workout

MCTs are saturated fats that are good for us. The structure of fat in coconut oil differs from that found in many animal products – medium chain vs. long chain fatty acids. Although many years ago, we were led to believe that all saturated fat forms were bad, new research shows that some saturated fats, like MCTs, are actually good for us. And coconut oil has an unusually high amount of MCTs.

We don’t have to be on the KETO diet to get the benefits of MCTs. They’re available as a supplement, they taste great, they give us that extra energy boost we can all use – and they’re not a stimulant like caffeine.

Here’s how they work. MCTs bypass normal fat digestion and go right to the liver, where they support the production of ketone bodies. Ketones are used as a source for ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production. By increasing ketones and therefore ATP production, MCTs can help boost our metabolism. And by increasing satiety, these healthy fats can make it easier to cut down on snacking, overeating, and excess calories.

There may also be synergistic actions between MCTs and omega-3s, which promote cardiovascular health. Carlson offers MCTs on their own or a blend of MCTs and Omega-3s – in soft gels, bottles, or single-serving packets, which are perfect for a purse, work bag, or gym bag.
