Carlson EPA Gems Used in Clinical Study for the Eyes
4/1/2008
Carlson EPA Gems were used in a study conducted at the NSU Oklahoma College of Optometry. This double-blind, randomized pilot study investigated the effects of fish oil concentrate on ocular blood flow, intraocular pressure and ocular pulse amplitude.
Forty healthy adults were randomly assigned to take either two Carlson EPA Gems daily, supplying 800 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA, or a matched placebo. After six weeks of supplementation, a significant decrease in intraocular pressure was observed in the group taking the EPA Gems. No changes were noted in the group taking the placebo.
