Adverse Drug Event Reports (ADR)


A report in the July 1, 2005 issue of the American Society of Health – System Pharmacists reports that ADRs (caused by drug overdose and other errors) cost the nation approximately 76.6 to 177.4 billion dollars a year. It states that 6.5% to 30% of all hospitalized patients have at least one ADR resulting in 106,000 to 140,000 deaths a year.
