Researchers in Italy conducted a placebo-controlled trial to analyze the effect of 530 mg of Omega-3 from fish oil, 10 mg Co-Q10 and 100 mg carnitine on 106 patients with early Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). After 12 months of treatment, visual function improved significantly in the active group, with a slight loss of visual function observed in the placebo group. The researchers conclude that treatment of early AMD may be possible using this simple combination of nutrients.
