Arlington Heights, IL --- March 2011 --- Carlson Laboratories Reacts to a Recent Study Revealing Omega-3 Intake Associated with Reduced Risk of Age-Related Macular Degeneration: A study to be published in the June issue of Archives of Ophthalmology analyzed the effect of regular fish consumption on the development of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Researchers analyzed the dietary habits of 38,022 women not previously diagnosed with AMD. This included their intake of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA. The women with the highest consumption of DHA had a 38% reduced risk of developing AMD.

Carilyn Anderson, President of Carlson Laboratories, stated, “Research continues to reveal the extraordinary benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. DHA is highly concentrated in the eyes, so it makes sense that high dietary intake of the omega-3 would support healthy eye structures. For those individuals that don’t eat an oily fish diet, supplementation is a convenient alternative.” Carlson Laboratories has an extensive line of eye care products that includes Norwegian fish oils, high in the omega-3 fatty acids EPA & DHA. Carlson also offers unique eye care supplements, which were specially formulated to promote lasting vision as we age. Look for Carlson eye care products being featured this spring in your local health food store.
